To our members —
ADA’s 2015 Banquet was held at a new location this year, English Hills Country Club.
I would like to thank the 2015 board for all they did to help make our show season and award banquet a success!
Sarah VanAllsburg headed the banquet committee and did a great job selecting a location with more space, so that the silent auction area was not separate from our banquet room. Lany Grow, one of our general members, did our center pieces, adding beauty to each table. Thank you Lany!!
General members Barbara Gering and Ginny Smith worked to together to create potted plants for each award winner with their horse’s name on the pots. Cute idea ladies and thank you very much!!!
I was delighted that Helen Claire McNulty accepted our invitation to be guest speaker. For those of you who could not attend the banquet, Claire began her passion for dressage as a young child with the ADA. She currently is showing USDF, with plenty of up/downs and accomplishments along the way. Her ability to hold a crowd’s attention on a horse, and as a speaker, became evident this past year! Thank you Claire for sharing your story with us!
Dr. Kathy Steece-Collier was in charge of this year’s silent auction and many felt it was the best silent auction ADA has ever had. Kathy, thank you very much for all the time you put into the auction and the banquet.
Also, thank you from all of us to those who shopped this year at the silent auction. The 2015 auction brought in $2,595.00, several hundred more than last year! This money will be spent on on you, our members, largely in the form of educational clinics.
We held our regular ADA board meeting open for the entire banquet so that you, the general members, could participate and nominate new board members. I am pleased to announce we will have two new members on the board this year. Ginny Smith is returning after being off the board for many years while Lyn Kendall is new to the ADA board. As I said at the banquet; “It takes a village!” We will report on the 2016 board lineup in more detail in January.
So thank you members and board villagers!
Our next board meeting is January 5 at 7pm at the Family Christian/Kellogg Building (5300 Patterson SE, Grand Rapids, MI). General members are always welcome to join the board at these meetings.
I look forward to a wonderful 2016 together.
Kathy Walters, ADA President
